Important Update Richie and I ( Céline) have decided not to continue with Cahersiveen Mountain Roots. We have been altruistically involved with supporting live music performance and appreciation since 2008 and we now have to stop for personal and other reasons. Please keep an eye out for events happening in Cahersiveen each May Bank Holiday, as the town has so much to offer and it's a great spot to visit. Thank you all for your support.. Richie and Céline

Keep Music Live
Our Mission
Cahersiveen Mountain Roots Music is run By Teacht Thar Sáile Folk Club. Our primary is to create a platform to support live music performance and appreciation.
As musicians ourselves we appreciate how important it is to ensure that venues and live performances are supported and accessible for musicians and music lovers. For that reason , we are a Non-profit body and our involvement is Altruistic.
Over the years we have come to know so very many musicians, their work and talents. It has become imperative that we find a way through our group to create this platform to support performers and lovers of live music.
We recognise the significance of continuance as well as preservation. Therefore we support our youths involvement along with honouring our local, national and international Stalwarts of Roots music creation and performance.
Cahersiveen is steeped in a tradition of music creation and talents. It is so very suited to support this. Going forward, we hope and wish to ensure that the Roots weekend is recognised and celebrated, locally, nationally and internationally We also wish to recognise complimentary platforms such as poetry, art, dance, photography and other crafts.
We have been, and hope to continue to attract a wide and varied audience, in that we cater for all ages. Our events are varied, accessible, welcoming and inclusive. The performers that have come to us have been engaging, participatory, helpful as well as being talented creators of music and performance.
Local Musicians have been outstanding in this regard, in-keeping with the long-time tradition that this area has in music creation and platforms of appreciation for same .
We understand Roots Music to be " Music that is created by people for People" It is inclusive of all its form and for everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy. We support the idea that Roots music is a part of local identity, Irish identity and part of the identity of countries and cultures worldwide
